| A special notice for all my new, and loyal clients |
| I feel this is very important to discuss with all my perspective clients who are looking for Paperweights, and Full globe type eyes; There are issues with the juncture of the irises with the scleral "whites" of the eyes. It is an ongoing problem. If you have the correct tools, to polish them properly, (unlike myself) " I really need to find a sort of tabletop lathe, to polish the globes on, but so far haven't much luck." ...I only have a Dremel with the standard wool round polisher wheel. :( Then you certainly can, and then coat with your lacquer or polyurethane of your choice. This is why I don't particularly like casting paperweights and full globes. I am a real perfectionist, and I never seem to get the results I prefer. I am getting better with practice, but it really is a killer on my hands. Because of the juncture of the iris to the sclera, the crease is impossible to polish out with even my smallest diameter wool polishing wheel. Sandpaper even in the finest grain causes more harm than good. The jewelry grade adhesive I use is clear, but does have a different density that the resin, so...naturally, it will not polish evenly with the resin. I am going to mull this over, and make a decision over my seasonal casting Hiatus. Until I can come up with either a cost effective alternative, I may have to suspend, or discontinue the process, of making them until I have the proper equipment. "I guess there is a real reason why classic PW and FG manufacturers charge so much for these types of eyes." It really is very difficult to cast them perfectly. My casting season has closed until January 1st of next year. I will still continue to list all my accrued inventory on Etsy. http://www.etsy.com/shop/dreamingtreestudio I intend to update the listings regularly. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you. I value each, and every customer. But, I would like to offer the very best, in this trade. And until I can indeed do so, I have to draw a line...somewhere. Price points, charts, and the like, will be removed regarding PW's and FG's. I will continue to offer AD type eyes, and Irises. Apologies to all... Amanda, Artist, and eye maker of Dreaming Tree Studio |
